2013 MV Agusta Rivale 800 Review

The unrivalled visual identity has been extended to every component and every surface of this machine. The MV Agusta Rivale 800 is a result of passion, experience, and inspiration to capture the essence of what is truly representative of our historic brand. It further expands upon our range with a new, eclectic interpretation of our modern three-cylinder engine that debuted on the F3 675 and also equips the Brutale 675 and 800 alongside the renewed four-cylinder family F4 and Brutale.

The Rivale 800 exudes an emotive design from every angle. Dominating the road with its mix of harmonious and “discordant” lines, tense yet voluptuous, bordering on futuristic whilst retaining synergy with our past. Volumes are perfectly balanced, containing areas that draw your eye to an incredible level of attention to detail. A sculptural composition where the engine and the chassis are always at the focal point. The front-fairing is compact and discreet yet able to characterise the front ends exuberant personality. Three elements, the mudguard, the side panels and the fuel tank are individually united to form a strong visual shield graphic that makes this machine instantly recognisable. Singularly MV Agusta. The middle section is reduced to the physical limits and designed to promote an unhindered riding style allowing the rider maximum freedom of movement on a sufficiently large and ergonomically considered saddle. The rear is elegant, sinuous, yet incisive and characterised by twin trailing-edge floating blade lighting incorporating light guides to accentuate the rear profile. At the front LED/light guide technology is used in a similar fashion to highlight the profile of the vehicle while reducing visual width. This solution offers an absolutely distinctive identity while increasing the visibility and consequently passive safety. The three-dimensional amber turn signals are perfectly integrated into the beautifully designed hand guards. The rear side lights and brake lights are housed in two separate elements, while the direction indicators have been placed on small “dynamic” wings, which relate to the various number plate dimensions. The rear view mirrors are designed to be effective and integrate seamlessly into the design of the bike. They are retractable, for sporty driving on closed roads or on the track, and when open are also telescopic to improve and increment rear visibility.

2013 MV Agusta Rivale 800 Key Features

This outstanding MV Agusta Rivale 800 thoroughbred will be available in the second half of 2013.

2013 MV Agusta Rivale 800 Features and Benefits

The dashboard has been designed specifically for Rivale 800 featuring a modern “monochrome” fully digital, multi-function display. It is compact to optimise the front fairing proportions yet remains perfectly legible while offering maximum availability of information and parameters.

Chassis and engine are once again protagonists. A perfect combination of fine engineering excellence portrayed in a mix of sculptural beauty, mechanical purity, functionality, and total performance. Three cylinders, define the agile, swift, dynamic soul of the new Rivale 800; Beyond imagination. Compactness is an obligatory, aside from technological excellence. Our goals have been achieved and far exceeded. The three-cylinder in-line Rivale 800 boasts a counter-rotating crankshaft that debuted on our Supersports F3 675: a unique solution for a road based machine that epitomises MV Agusta’s racing spirit. Technology MVICS (Motor & Vehicle Integrated Control System) allows for performance, smoothness of power delivery, ease of riding and extreme personalization, with three engine maps and a custom default. The Custom setting permits complete freedom to suit the personal requirements and preferences of the rider. The throttle control is Full Ride-By-Wire.

The frame is our signature MV Agusta philosophy. The front section is comprised of a steel trellis combined with a rear of two aluminium alloy plates, that act as a fulcrum for the sculpted single sided rear swingarm and suspension. The dimensions of the chassis have been redefined to ensure incredible handling: the angle of the steering head is half of a degree more open than the Brutale 800. The excursion of the fork and shock have also been increased to provide more comfort and conformity to the road surface. The suspension units are respectively by Marzocchi and Sachs. They are adjustable in spring preload as well as hydraulic compression and rebound damping.

As on every MV Agusta, the braking system uses the best products to achieve outstanding performance. The pair of front 320 mm diameter discs are gripped by twin four-piston Brembo radial callipers. The rear is comprised of a 220 mm diameter disc mated to a two-piston calliper.

2014 Honda Grom 125 Review

Big Attitude

Okay, admit it: When you first look at the sporty and compact Grom™ you just have to smile. And no matter how long you've been riding, you just want to throw a leg over this bike and twist the throttle. It's an excellent fit for both new and experienced riders, but to Gen Y buyers in particular the Grom carries a bit of attitude while promising fun times: the compact frame size, low seat, inverted front fork and hydraulic disc brakes make this the real deal. The fuel-injected 125cc engine delivers lots of torque, the 4-speed manual transmission works just like any other full-sized bike, the maneuverability and handling make it a joy to ride, and there's even room for a passenger. Factor in its efficient size with an affordable price, and there's just no way you can pass up this chance to get out and ride. Because no matter who you are, the Grom will keep you smiling, ride after ride.

2014 Honda Grom 125 Key Features

Independence: With your own wheels, you can bag the bus and forget about having to beg for rides from your friends or—shudder—your Mom. Stylish: Check out the Grom for yourself. And then think of it as a blank canvas, waiting for you to customize it.

The new Honda Grom. Big attitude. Ride one and see.

The key to a great motorcycle is starting with a great motor, and Honda makes the best. The new Grom features a low-maintenance, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine. Electric starting makes it a snap to get going, and a standard motorcycle transmission gives you the control you want.

The new Grom may be small, but when it comes to features it’s all Honda. The four-speed transmission works just like a full-sized bike’s so you get plenty of performance and control. Hydraulic disc brakes front and rear give you excellent stopping power.

The new Grom feels even lower than its 29.7-inch seat height, thanks to the bike’s light weight, low center of gravity, and narrow seat/tank junction. All that adds up to maximum fun.

2013 MV Agusta Brutale 1090RR Review

Maximum performance without compromise, this is the creed of the Brutale RR 1090. The Brutale RR 1090 sits at the top of the Brutale 2013 line-up, it is an absolute missile capable of exceptional performance and a level of handling that makes all other naked bikes pale by comparison. The 1078cc four-cylinder engine with radial intake and exhaust valves offers the highest power output ever by a Brutale. New camshafts, new intake tracts, new throttle bodies (same bore diameter as the F4) all contribute to the record power level of 116,5 kW (156 hp) at 11.900 rpm. This engine is simply extraordinary and capable of satisfying even the most demanding rider thanks to the addition of the slipper clutch, new engine mapping and traction control with 8 levels of intervention.

The chassis of the MV Agusta Brutale RR 1090 is worthy of an authentic superbike without fairings, the ultra-light CrMo steel tube chassis that is hand welded (TIG) with adjustable steering geometry that allows the rider to adapt the geometry to their personal needs. Logically, a superbike needs to have the best suspension available: Marzocchi 50mm USD front forks with DLC coating and dedicated valving for the Brutale RR 1090, together with a Sachs single shock with high and low speed compression adjusters along with rebound and spring pre-load adjusters. Completing the high level of components are the brakes and wheels: Brembo monobloc front brake calipers (the same as on the hypersport F4RR) with 320mm rotors as well as new cast aluminum wheels that accentuate its already stunning performance and looks.

The new Brutale RR 1090 offers an extremely high level of fit and finish including a projector beam headlight with incorporated LED position lights, LED front turn signals incorporated into the rear-view mirrors, LED day running lights arranged symmetrically on either side of the dashboard cover and LED rear turn signals. The Brutale RR 1090 is available in 3 color combinations: Red/Silver, Metallic Blue/Pearl White and Metallic Gold/Pearl White

Three Brutale variants with three distinct characters. The Brutale 4 cylinder 2013 range is based on three new models: Brutale 1090, Brutale 1090 R and Brutale 1090 RR.

2013 MV Agusta Brutale 1090RR Key Features

In detail, the main features of MV Agusta Brutale are:

• In-line four cylinder engine with two configurations of maximum power
• Traction control adjustable on 8 levels
• Modular frame with tubular steel trellis section and aluminum plates offering a high torsional stiffness
• Single-sided swing arm with adjustable absorber
• 50 mm diameter inverted forks
• Brakes with radial front calipers

2013 MV Agusta Brutale 1090RR Features and Benefits

Design

Form and function: following these inspirational principles Brutale continues to fascinate and has evolved in many details. Having immediate impact are the lighting elements, day running lights, arranged symmetrically on either side of the dashboard cover: capable of enhancing the whole frontal section, also making the motorcycle more visible and therefore safe during day and night. Another ray of light comes from the four-cylinder engine, now silver, a color that emphasizes its compactness and accurate implementation of all its elements. The same chromatic range characterizes the new wheels, a unique design in the motorcycle industry: the multiple spokes are split and give rise to a fascinating design and at the same time efficient, considering the weight of a pair of wheels has been decreased by about 1.500 grams compared to those fitted on previous models. The two new double exhaust silencers, a key element of the design, have become even more racing thanks to tapered ends, with a decisive diagonal cut reminiscent of American dragsters. The surface finish enhances its compact size; the new aluminum plate that prevents contact with the pipes has been redefined.

Updated features also for the new tail light, now with latest technology contour illumination, and rear view mirrors having a revised design for the Brutale 1090. On Brutale 1090 R and Brutale 1090 RR the indicators are integrated within the mirrors, benefitting look and dimensions; on these same models, the rear indicators use LEDs. The license plate holder is now metal, lighter and essential, and therefore able to further enhance the design of the compact, unique tail. On Brutale 1090 the new single piece seat benefits from new curves, improved ergonomics and a higher level of finish. Lastly, the front fender has also been redesigned with ample openings to reduce weight.

Engine

The inline four-cylinder architecture of the MV Agusta is part of history and this engine is found on the complete Brutale range. With a displacement of 1078 cc, it employ’s a bore and stroke of 79mm
and 55 mm. Unique to the motorcycle industry is the double overhead camshaft with four valves per cylinder which are arranged in a radial pattern. The engine employs both water and oil cooling with separate radiators. Two engine configurations are offered, they are characterized by different values of maximum power and torque: Brutale 1090 and Brutale 1090 R reach 144 hp (106 kW) at 10,300 rev / min and 112 Nm (11.4 kgm) of torque; Brutale 1090 RR reaches the impressive power of 158 hp (116.5 kW) at 11,900 rev / min and 100 Nm (10.2 kgm) of torque at 10,100 rev / min. The cassette style removable gearbox is a six speed, constant mesh, another touch that makes MV Agusta exclusive. The multi-plate clutch in runs in an oil bath and on the Brutale 1090 RR it employs race track derived slipper clutch unit.

Frame

The composite frame of the Brutale is composed of the high strength tubular ALS steel front section coupled to the single sided swingarm by two aluminum plates. This configuration provides the best balance between efficiency and weight, as well as a characteristic of every MV Agusta. Size and dimensions remain the same: wheelbase of 1438 mm Brutale 1090 RR (1430mm on Brutale 1090 and Brutale 1090 R), trail of 103.5 mm.

Suspensions

Brutal continues to be the benchmark for handling thanks to the continually refined and improved suspension. The 50 mm diameter front forks are fully adjustable by means of special external adjusters: compression on one leg, rebound on the other and spring preload on both legs. The new axle carrier allows quick release of the front wheel: a touch of functionality typically found only on race bikes. The shock is completely tunable with some distinctions depending on the version: on the Brutale1090 and Brutale 1090 R it is possible to adjust the rebound and spring preload; Brutale 1090 RR offers a wider range of adjustment, in addition to the spring preload and rebound damping it is also possible to vary the low and high speed hydraulic compression damping.

Brakes

The braking system of every Brutale employs components of the highest quality: two front discs 310 mm in diameter for Brutale 1090 and Brutale 1090 R, 320 mm discs are used on the Brutale 1090 RR, floating, with steel braking discs and an aluminum disc carrier. The rear disc is also made of steel with a diameter of 210 mm. Calipers are four-piston front and rear; Brutale 1090 RR employs Brembo monobloc front calipers for maximum braking efficiency and weight reduction.

2013 Yamaha FZ1 Review

From Twisties to Touring

Think of the 2013 Yamaha FZ1 as an upright R1 ready to take on the world. There's more fuel-injected power in that smooth 20 valve four-cylinder than most riders will ever use, in a sure fotted chassis. It's a rider's best ally, from track days, to commuting, to touring.

Crunch the numbers, do the math and then take a seat aboard one of the world's best "naked" sport bikes.

Gambar Motor 1 | Yamaha FZ1 2013Surprisingly comfortable eh? You are looking at one of the best values in Yamaha's 2013 line-up. The FZ1 offers exceptional open class performance with cutting style. R1 inspired power, fuel injection, twin spar aluminum frame and fully adjustable suspension. The FZ1 is a serious sport bike that offers an exceptionally comfortable and exciting riding experience.

2013 Yamaha FZ1 Key Features

• Fuel Consumption ± 15kpl/42mpg(Imp)
• 3rd generation fuel injected R1 powerplant
• Serious sports focus with comfortable ergonomics
• Our ultimate street brawler brings 998cc of fuel-injected power to the fray, in a light-and-strong aluminum frame.
• Sculpted bodywork and a comfortable handlebar position for great looks and rider comfort.
• Fully adjustable 43mm inverted fork and a single shock with adjustable preload and rebound damping. Tunable for sport touring or urban assault.

2013 Yamaha FZ1 Features and Benefits

Engine:

• Ultra-lightweight 998cc, DOHC, 20-valve, liquid-cooled, 40 degree inclined, in-line four-cylinder engine. The engine has been tuned to provide outstanding performance and excellent passing performance.

• The crankcases, pistons, cylinder and cylinder head are based on the 3rd generation R1 powerplant ('04 to '06).

Gambar Motor 4 | Yamaha FZ1 2013• Combustion chamber design and squish area has been optimized for maximum sports performance. The compression ratio for the FZ1 is 11.5:1. Redline is set at 12,000 rpm and features a "soft" rev limiter to protect the engine.

• Special lightweight, high lift, high performance intake and exhaust cams help to provide incredible horsepower and fast engine response. Cam profiles and the cam timing are designed to provide for more low to midrange power (Vs R1) .

• Automatic cam chain tensioner reduces both maintenance and mechanical engine noise.

• Lightweight, 3rd generation R1 based crankshaft provides quick engine response.

• Connecting rods are carburized for strength and durability and use a nutless design. The lower end "cap" of the rod is made from the same piece of material as the upper portion, this design is known as "fracture splitting". This design aids in establishing true big end roundness and greater precision in con rod dimensions for great durability.

• Closed deck cylinder design allows the cylinders to be spaced more closely together, allowing a narrower engine. The cylinder block is a stand-alone part. The benefit if this design is improved sealing, and easier serviceability.

• Ceramic composite plated cylinder "bores" are a "liner less" design with the ceramic coating sprayed directly on the aluminum block to ensure great heat dissipation for consistent power delivery, reduced friction and reduced weight.

• Short skirt, lightweight forged pistons reduce mechanical vibration and improve throttle response.

• 3rd generation R1 inspired "stacked" 3-axis gearbox / clutch design stacks input/output shafts to create a low center of gravity and keeps overall engine size shorter front to back. As a result, the stacked design gives the engineers the freedom to place the engine in the frame for optimum front to rear weight balance and thereby maximizing handling

• Smooth shifting 6-speed transmission features optimized gear ratios for maximum performance in the "real world". 5th and 6th ratios are wider (taller) for reduced engine rpms at highway speeds for more relaxed cruising.

• Compact, heavy duty, multi-plate clutch ensures consistent, positive engagement and uses coil springs (5) and paper based fiber plates (9) to reduce weight.

• Mikuni fuel injection system is based on the 2006 R1 design, featuring 45mm throttle bodies fitted with T.P.S. (Throttle Position Sensor). This style of fuel injection uses dual throttle valves. The secondary or sub throttle valves are motor driven and control the intake air volume for optimum throttle response.

• The actual injectors are Denso "long nose" type injectors with a high dynamic range and 4-spray holes for excellent power and response across the entire rev range.

• Specially designed 8.2-liter air box with intake air temperature sensor maximizes performance. A viscous paper-type air filter is utilized.

• The fuel injection's lightweight Electronic Control Unit (ECU) utilizes a powerful 32-bit processor for faster control of the injection process. The compact design also reduces weight.

• Yamaha's patented Exhaust Ultimate Power Valve (EXUP) monitors engine rpm and adjusts exhaust flow for maximum performance at all rpms with no flat spots. This system also optimizes fuel economy and reduces emissions.

• 4 into 2 into 1 exhaust system features stainless steel exhaust pipes and a short design silencer / muffler. The header pipe length has been optimized for maximum power delivery. This system is fitted with two 3-way honeycomb catalyziers with an oxygen sensor to reduce harmful CO and HC exhaust emissions.

• High-efficiency curved radiator features compact dual ring-type fans for maximum cooling efficiency. This rad and fan design produces more airflow than conventional flat design rads to maintain optimum engine temperatures for consistent power output. The curved design also allows a shorter wheelbase.

• Large, liquid-cooled oil cooler maintains stable lubricant temperatures for extended engine life. Convenient spin-off oil filter is used.

• Convenient clutch cover sightglass ensures easy oil level inspection.

• Maintenance-free transistor-controlled ignition (TCI) ensures fast starts and great performance at all rpms.

• Air Induction System (AIS … not ram air) reduces harmful HC and CO exhaust emissions for a cleaner environment.

Chassis and Suspension:

• Die cast lightweight aluminum twin spar frame provides an optimized rigidity balance for incredible sports handling. The engine is a stressed member of the chassis, allowing a lighter main frame design without sacrificing stability and light, agile handling qualities.

• The riding position which is one of the most important features of the FZ1, it offers a balance between a sporty riding position and great rider comfort.

• Key chassis geometry figures include: 51% front and 49 % rear weight balance, 25 degrees of rake and 109 mm of trail. The 47 degree lean angle highlights the FZ1 sporty side.

• Lightweight, detachable rear sub frame allows easy access to rear suspension components and reduces costs in the event of a "loop-out".

• C.F. (Controlled Filling) die cast truss-type rear swingarm offers great rear wheel control and traction for razor-sharp cornering and superb stability at speed. The long 629mm arm helps to minimize the effect of "chain tensioning" on the bike's handling.

• 43mm Kayaba inverted cartridge style fork is fully adjustable and offers 130mm (5.1") of wheel travel. This fork features independent damping adjustments for compression and rebound via a one way port that separates the two functions. Adjustments include: 9-way spring preload, 26-way compression damping and 26-way rebound damping. The adjustable design allows the rider to tailor suspension settings to match rider weight and road /track conditions to maximize handling and suspension performance.

• Lightweight aluminum upper triple clamp features a 25mm offset for sportier handling.

• Link-type Monocross rear suspension features an adjustable Kayaba shock that allows the rider to tailor suspension settings to match load and road conditions. Adjustments include 7 - way spring preload, and 12-way rebound damping. Rear wheel travel is 130mm or 5.1"

• 320mm dual front discs are squeezed by ultra rigid R6 inspired monoblock, 4-piston calipers which provide outstanding stopping power and lever feedback. The master cylinder utilizes 16mm piston for outstanding stopping power with less lever effort.

• 245mm rear disc is squeezed by a lightweight single piston slide-type Nissin caliper with sintered metal brake pads.

• Lightweight cast-aluminum 5-spoke wheels reduce unsprung weight for great handling characteristics. The front wheel is an MT3.50-17 and is fitted with competition-spec 120/70-ZR17 tire, while the rear wheel is a MT6.00-17 fitted with a wide 190/50-ZR17 rear radial.

• Eye catching, half fairing offers surprisingly good wind and weather protection. It features R1 inspired dual "cat eye" halogen headlights.

• Conventional handlebar design features a more upright riding position for maximum everyday comfort. Handlebar is mounted above the top triple clamp.

• 18-liter fuel tank offers a slim design with great knee grip. The reserve portion of the tank is 3.4 litres.

• Separate rider and passenger seats offers exceptional solo or two-up comfort.

• One-piece instrumentation features analog tachometer, digital speedometer, dual tripmeters, fuel gauge, clock and new outside air temperature display. The back lighting on the instrument can be adjusted to suit the rider's preference.

Additional Features:
• Low fuel warning light
• Integrated passenger grab rails
• Adjustable, 5-position front brake lever
• Durable "O" ring-sealed drive chain
• Lightweight, sealed low-maintenance battery
• Excessive lean angle engine cut-out switch.
• Lockable steering

The FZ1 offers a significant level of power and performance. It is not intended for novice or inexperienced riders.
